THERE’S A WELL• WHERE IS YOUR BUCKET?

“But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? John 4:11

What to think of when i ponder on the relevance of Jesus to me in my daily walk? To me Jesus is not just the forgiver of my sins and a heaven to wait. Jesus has become the answer to the world, especially the believer, in all aspects of life. Jesus is not an idol within the local church, to be worshipped for few hours every Sunday, then leave behind until we come back to him with all our problems and religious spirits.

He (Jesus  Christ) is the engine of the vehicle of the universe. Without Him nothing was ever created. Which means the whole world revolves and hinges around Him. When we take him out of His place, nothing functions better. The world system has set their own benchmarks for humanity to reach the apex of happiness and pleasure. A path which is not promising. Sadly, most Christians and kingdom citizens have become enslaved to these temporal illusions, and bubbles; neglecting the very essence of the spirit of Jesus. The spirit that gives us eternal pleasures in a world full of chaos and emptiness.

WE LIVE IN A HEDONISTIC WORLD. A world which is  bent on pursuing pleasure and happiness through every worthless means. Some are addicted to drugs, food, window shopping, and all forms of vanities; trying to fill the vacuum within their heart with these. Like the woman from Samaria, in John 4, who boasted about the well of Jacob, which has great history and some form of sacredness to it, although it was just a temporal well. The well of the fathers that never solved the emptiness or her life, nor the lives of the Samaritans. It was just a literal water for natural survival. The man she was talking to was all that she needed. Is Jesus enough for you, or you’re chasing after the thin air followed by the most majority of humans?

IS JESUS ENOUGH FOR YOU AND I? We sing and brag about Jesus in christian circles, but has he ever been enough for us in a Of our endeavors? We even trust in the local government, our friends, work, and some men and women of God more than the presence of Christ. We miss his glory. We forfeit his power. And we are dying from within. Observe carefully, the woman who met Jesus at the well, at sycar. Her attitude was like most of us. We don’t pronounce it with our mouths like she did, but our hearts says it all. We measure the systems of this world far above the Christ in our hearts. She said…

“Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” John 4:12

Oh, how we pursue things that do not satisfy. The norms of life. We say, yes everyone is on that path for their happiness, I have a good job so am okay, I got money in my account, houses to show off, I can buy the best wine and throw huge parties like a king, and what have you. We boast, but deep within us we are withering away, without the living water; Jesus.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life

ARE YOU THIRSTY — feeling the sense of irrelevant and purposeless in life? Do you want to walk in power and in the wisdom of God? Just cast the bucket in your hands (faith) into the well of your salvation and draw without measure, the boundless goodness of God in Christ. In Christ Jesus, there’s eternal pleasures. In his presence there’s fullness of joy that conquers the disappointments of life. I encourage you to focus on Christ today.

SAVOR THE WATER Savor the water, my friend, (all his good promises) and appropriate it with faith in your heart. It’s never God’s will for the believer to feel stranded, and hopeless, gasping for air like a wanderer. Let the very presence of God saturate all the places of your being. Draw into the word— the word is the well that waters our wilderness. Get into the word. Stay in His presence and let and meditate on His love for you. Remember, Jesus has become your wisdom in your born again spirit. You can trust him to lead you out of the deepest dark valleys of indecision and confusion. As a man thinks in his heart so are you. Why don’t you think about what Jesus is to you and for you, and let the Holy Spirit go to work on your behalf.

I see God filling your cup — your empty cup to the brink. I see God — God watering your desert with the living water. I see God — God shifting things in your heart, as He himself becomes the expression of joy and peace, in all the places of your soul. Hallelujah amen!! Just drop your bucket and draw the vast riches of God into your life.
