God’s love for us; it’s the most powerful force known by man. Our love for others is the most complex thing in the body of Christ.

It is very common in christian circles to hear people brag about how zealous they are for God and deeply rooted they are in love with Him. Most believers think they get a complete grasp of the depths of love until you begin to questioned them; if their love for frozen yogurt is the same as their love for God, marriage partners, family and friends. There is a huge gap between ones love for yogurt and his love for friends. We easily mixed up agape love (the love nature of God) with conditional love (love based on conditions). My aim in this write-up is to unveil God’s nature of  love. More so, to find out if you are  radiating His love nature on this side of the cross. As new creatures in Christ, we have been transformed into the very nature of God through rebirth, to diffuse His love without measure in every place. We have become an excellent icons of God’s kind of love, on this side. Friend, let’s do a very simple exercise, which will literally change your life and that of those around you in a very profound way.

First Corinthian thirteen list almost fifteen (15) vital characteristics of God’s nature. As you read from one to fifteen on this list, you will see what love is and what love is not. Now, the question we all going to ask ourselves today is; “DOES LOVE LOOK LIKE ME?” Whenever I have asked some of m buddies this unique question, they either froze or begin to sweat from their face, down to the soles of their feet. I have had many scratched their head and ends up asking me the same question, without a clear answer. The Holy Spirit gives us a fine portrait of what love (God) is; (God is revealing His nature. As we see His nature; we also capture our identity in Him.) If God is love, then I believe that Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Church at Corinth, was not just giving the love requirements but rather painting a beautiful portrait of who God is.

 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV- 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [a] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away

 Like I said before, this is a unique questionnaire or exercise to build your love muscles. All you have to do today is to grab your bible or read the anchor scripture slowly and prayerfully  wet your heart with the truth of scripture. As you meditate on God’s word, don’t condemn yourself on areas you fall short, but rather ask the Lord to continue to influence your thoughts and actions with Himself, to become the person He has intended for you to become; loving!

LOVE IS A BEING – God is love, and out of His marvelous love for us through rebirth,  has infused Himself into us, so we can live through Him, by faith. This love must be first understood as a noun (a being) in our born again spirit before it can become a verb (diffusing, actions) influencing our daily lives. What I mean is this; you cannot demonstrate the agape love out of your bankrupt flesh, until (God) who is love is unleashed through faith, to freely rule and reign through your human vessel which lacks the natural desire to love unconditionally. For instance, I had a very difficult situation with a sister who also loves God. Honestly, I was a complete wreck whenever we had an eye contact,  at Church. My heart and emotions were not ready to let some stuff go. I was right, she was wrong was the song playing in my ears and controlling my emotions. You know what I did? I prayed to the Lord, telling Him of my inability to love, my hurt, pain, resentments all the negative energy. I believe you know what I’m talking about, if you are not living in a lonely Island. I kept placing my trust in Christ to freely love the sister through me,without her having to change her attitude. It worked so perfectly as I confided in God for a breakthrough in my heart. The next thing I knew….I was sending text messages, phone conversation, then a visit to her family for a fantastic dinner. The devil has been defeated by the ability of Christ love, and not by my might or effort.

1 John 4:7-10 (NET) 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been fathered by God and knows God. 8 The person who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him. 10 In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

FATHERED BY LOVE – I love how the Holy Spirit trumpet it through John… everyone who loves has been fathered by God and knows God. The key to loving others without boundaries and limitation is allowing God to love you freely like a child who is fathered through pure love. Any kid raised in an environment of love, almost all the time grows up loving themselves and that of others. Are you receiving the unmerited love or you are daily working your way to earn His love? Those who are always trying to earn love do not know God through intimacy, to be able to love others. Such folks always expect others to earn their love through their good performances. If you had a bad performance they hold on to their love. Friend, does love look like you or do you look like love?

This is how God’s love manifests through us to those around us; “When we acknowledge His love through the indwelling presence of the Spirit of Christ, who always energized us through faith, to do the impossible and the uncommon”. That is the only way we can emanates or defuse Him like fragrance in every place. Allow yourself to be fathered by love. It has been said that; “Hurt people hurt”. I also believe that those who have embraced His relentless love as dearly beloved sons and daughters, will live victoriously, vertically and horizontally, without striving. Any love outside of God’s love is conditional, and it’s bound to fade out. God’s love never ends! If you have reasons to love me, then your love for me is conditional. You will say something like this; “I love McDaniels, BECAUSE….he is my friend” “he gave me $100 when I was broke, few weeks ago” “He is nice and all that”. “Because” is the clause of your love. Would you love me if am not nice? When you love me at all times no matter what, then you are walking in true love.

Ask the Lord to saturate your life with the agape presence; out of His great love, you will be able to love the undeserving  and be freed from all anti love attitudes and behaviors, which easily besets you in your relationships with people. Tell the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart today, of how dearly God loves you and how willingly He wants to express His love through you.
