I DON’T NEED YOUR GOD, I NEED YOUR ANOINTING!

Just as one cannot separate water from being wet, you cannot separate God from the anointing

Just as one cannot separate water from being wet, you cannot separate God from the anointing. What the Church call anointing is a reflection of the character of God in a Photo Credit: www.wildolive.co.uk person’s life. Anointing is not goose pimples, a cliché, emotionalism nor mechanical influence nor human technique.

ANOINTING IS GOD…God’s power, wisdom, love, creativity, knowledge, and all that God is, flowing through human vessels, for the glory of God. The power or the ability to bear lasting fruitfulness is in the enabling grace of Christ. That was what Paul meant when He said; “I can do all things through Christ(the anointed one and His anointing) who strengthens me. (Phil 4:13)

I don’t need your God, I need your anointing… is a saddening reflection of the heartbeat and a false quest of a generation, willing to excel in life outside the confines ophoto credit: google imagesf the living logos. I want to do well in my ministry through the power He gives but not interested in the source of the oil.

My anointing or the anointing of God upon my life, cannot be given to any entity, even my children. Don’t be in shock! Brace up for the truth which sets free…Here is the thing; I live on a borrowed life of God, called the quality life or the abundant life. This life is anchored on my intimate relationship with God (eternal life), through Jesus Christ. Chew on this; “The release of the anointing on one’s life, is on the basis of our relationship with Jesus, through faith”.

DESIRE You can have a burning desire in your heart for the anointing of God upon my life, (ain’t nothing wrong with that)…one unique thing I can do for an individual, is to awaken them to the consciousness of the incredible presence of God, already working in them. Against this background, nurture them to build on a relationship with God, to unleash their uniqueness is a very important part of the process. It is totally impossible to give your personal relationship with God to another, and if one can’t give his or her relationship with God to others; I don’t think you can give to an individual, your anointing. Any Spirit filled person, can surely unveil unto a believer what God isimagesSUN4KAOZ already doing in their life, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, through prophecy, word of knowledge, teaching etc. and lay their hands on them to confirm His will in their life. At the end of the day…your anointing was not giving to you by the one who laid his hands on you. They were just a vital channel within God’s activity. This is very simple!

WHAT ABOUT TIMOTHY?
Paul didn’t give Timothy his gift or calling. He awakens Tim to what God was already doing in his life. Paul writes–1Timothy 4:14: “Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the leadership.” In other words, God spoke what he was doing in Timothy life to the Elders, and they approved of him into ministry by the laying of their hands.
Paul laying hands on Timothy was not with the intention to pass on a gift or power as it has become very common in some Christian circles. (People are running around for the next man of God in town for impartation, instead of looking up to the man above for His anointing)

2 Timothy 1:6-7 “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

In other words Timothy should not succumb to the pressure from others because of his youth, but become conscious of the power, love, and sound mind which were already given to all who believe in Christ.  You already got it my friend. Don’t step outside of God for a short cut. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

DID TIMOTHY LEARN A GREAT DEAL FROM PAUL?
Yes, he did. When you walk with a man who reflects the character of God…his God will be your focus, and the wisdom of God in his life becomes your pursuit. (You can tap into practical common sense and supernatural principles from a man who has learned a lot from his walk with God, and what life experiences has taught them)

COPYCATS As a result of a desperate want of a generation for the “anointing”, from men on the frontline (Celebrated Pastors and Prophets, Music leaders etc.) in Photo Credit: smallbiztrends.comministry, there is a subtle trademark of deception in the body of Christ. At the end of almost every 30 minute segment of a Christian program on TV, by televangelist, something is always being sold as a point of contact for the transfer of the anointing. (I don’t have problem with things being sold on TV, but it has to be sold with the right motivation)  I have personally seen folks functioning like clouds without rain in ministry setting; they are empty barrels, a stench in the nose, a sounding brass without a clear sound of direction and purpose. They have ignored genuine relationship with Christ, and substituted God with techniques. When you lack an authentic relationship with Christ, you will not have the wisdom to act right. You can copy others by watching how they do stuff and be famous in what you do, but time will tell how that dead works, will be sustained.

Jesus must be the center of His Church and not man. I humbly plead with Church leaders to bring those who are desperate for the unction to function to the revelation of living Christ, who only can work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. We can’t let our egos take the place of Christ

Beloved, don’t develop the habit to copy or emulate some pace setters in society, through “special learning”, to give up your authentic self.  I am not a fan of fake it till you makes it. Our identity in God cannot be faked. We should cherish the originality of the graces that Christ gives. There are a lot of great and ordinary people I follow from far and near to draw inspiration, wisdom, counsel, creativity, leadership etc. but these unique people, are not my central focus in life. Christ is!

THE SUBTLE MECHANISM
Some people also believes, if you want to function in certain levels of the anointing, it’s not about prayer, holiness or a relationship. Just sow a special seed offering for a great man of God, and you will definitely walk in their anointing. Here is a thought to ponder on…who gives the anointing? God or Man or Special mediators! Can you buy it? Let scripture speak for itself; Acts 8 is an interesting picture of what is on the table today.  Simon the Sorcerer sees a unique manifestation of the anointing in Peters life, and he offered to pay for the grace bestowed on Peter that he can unleash such power to impact others.

Acts 8:19-20 “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”  Your money perish with you because imagesCAF2TDO1you thought the gift of God could be purchased with money.… Repent therefore of this your wickedness and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are poisoned with bitterness and bound by iniquity (Acts 8.22-23)

GIVING There is nothing wrong in sowing money into the life of a great person, or a ministry for a worthy cause…which will probably give you favorable access into their life, to learn certain life principles and be activated in your heart to pursue God, who is not respecter of persons. Access into the lives of great people, should always challenge one to learn their secret walk with God, and not directly for the fruit of their life, with wrong motives. To Copy ones greatness as quick fix to deny process of growth, will not even help one to survive the test of time. Many have faded into oblivion like a 15 seconds commercial, whether it was ministry or business enterprise, because of lack of balance in relationship with God and the wisdom to manage what He gives.

YOU ARE UNIQUE IN YOUR OWN ANOINTING
Friend you carry the fullness of God in your born again spirit. You are living in a better covenant, where God resides in you permanently. You can only trust Him, for the seal and the guarantee of the spirit in your life, to be unleashed in the capacities of your calling. Whether you flip burgers in a restaurant, a waitress, cleaner, painter, entrepreneur, publisher, public speaker, an athlete, a pastor or government appointee; the anointing will cause you to excel. The anointing is not limited to the four walls of Photo Credit:shugsprisonblog.blogspot.com -a chapel. Corinthians reads ‘Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God who has also sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.’ We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit living inside us.

1 John 2.27: ‘These things I have written to you about those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things and is true and is not a lie and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.’ The anointing who is the Holy Spirit is in us, it is He who guides us into the truth so we can glorify the Lord Jesus (John 1613-15). We are certainly not glorifying the Lord when we go to men to get the Holy Spirit; it is a lack of understanding and a lack of faith. God will give you deeper understanding of Himself. Be far from deception and walk by faith in the ability that God gives and nurture your daily relationship with Jesus, the anointed One.

Disclaimer:
I do not discourage coaching, mentoring, giving, submission, laying of hands and learning from others, whether it’s through the Tube or Church revivals, to improve one’s uniqueness.

  1. Wise words from a brother in Christ. We are too quick to look outside the body for the deceiver when he is all too often in our midst. Bless you for focusing our gaze where it ought to be…on the lion ever ready to pounce and devour in our midst.

The true gospel is free, just as our Savior preached it, and that gospel frees us with the only price the cost that He paid once and forever.

  3. Amen. Good stuff. I liked how you brought out that Timothy’s resident gifting was established through the laying on of hands and prophecy. He wasn’t getting Paul’s anointing. When we chase after other’s it takes us away from Him and who we are in Him. We have the Anointed One living in us! The same Spirit that was in Paul and Jesus.

    1. True that! The life we live in the flesh is through the capacity of the indwelling Spirit. This is what has been done for the new creation believer. The world will be turned upside down, if we come to the full knowledge of the power of the indwelling presence of Christ in us. The Church will become solution centers for the unsaved. Thanks Mel!

God, wake us up to who we are! Blessings.
